Founder – Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth
Chinmaya University and House of Kalam collaborate to bring to you the “Kalam Sandesh Vahini” – a one of its kind mobile exhibition on the people’s President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. This vehicle, which depicts the various incidences from the life of Dr APJ Kalam, was flagged off at Rameshwaram by the Honourable Prime Minister of India – Shri Narendra Modi, on the 27th July, during the inauguration ceremony of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s memorial at Rameshwaram. This Sandesh Vahini, carrying the life and the vision of Dr APJ Kalam, will travel across the country for around 85 days, starting from Rameshwaram, his native town, to the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, covering many schools and general public, on its way. Members of Chinmaya Yuva Kendra (Youth wing of Chinmaya Mission) and Youth Empowerment Programme (Yuvaveers) will accompany the Vahini and conduct talks, seminars, workshops etc during this yatra. The Sandesh Vahini will be received by the President and the Prime Minister at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on the 15th October which happens to be Dr APJ’s birthday.

The “Kalam Sandesh Vahini (KSV)” visited two schools and students from four schools, including the ones where Dr APJ Abdul Kalam studied, visited KSV.
The KSV visited the Panchayat Union Primary School, Panchayat Union Elementary School – the school where Dr APJ Abdul Kalam did his Primary Schooling, Micro Nursery and Primary School and the Schwartz Higher Secondary School – the school where Abdul Kalam did his Higher Secondary in Rameswaram, reaching out to 756 students and 44 teachers.

The team started off by visiting St. Joseph’s Primary & Secondary school conducting sessions and inspiring a total of 1200 students, 45 teachers and 15 parents. In the evening, the Vahini went to the newly inaugurated Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial where 400+ people visited this unique bus that carries the life and message of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and shares interesting facts about the Indian Scientific Heritage.

The KSV was welcomed by Chinmaya Mission Madurai at the Chinmaya Meenakshi ashram where around 180 people drew inspiration from this unique bus. The KSV was then taken to the Periyar Bus Stand and the eagerness shown by people to see the vahini clearly reflected their love for Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Assistant Commissioner of Madurai Shri. Manivannan congratulated Chinmaya University and House of Kalam for taking this initiative. The young team from Chinmaya University interacted with the 400+ visitors and shared the inspiring story of Dr. Kalam’s life that has been depicted in the bus. The last stop for the day was AS Colony, Madurai, where around 250 people came to visit the KSV and benefited from this moving exhibition on India’s glorious scientific heritage. The entire programme at Madurai was organised under the leadership of Swami Sivayogananda (Acharya, Chinmaya Mission Madurai).

The KSV was welcomed by Om Sadhna School, Madurai in the morning where around 500 Students and 25 teachers visited the Vahini. The Principal of the school had a dream of inviting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as the Chief guest for their school’s annual function. Even though that could never happen, receiving the Vahini in the school was a manifestation of that dream and he thanked Chinmaya Mission Madurai for making it happen. The Vahini, along with the team of youngsters from Chinmaya University, also visited TVS Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Mahatma Montessori school as well as the Government Girls Hr. Sec. School (the only Government school in Madurai) and reached out to 1350 students and 54 teachers. The last stop for the day was the Lady Doak College where Dr. Kalam’s niece had studied. Dr. Kalam had also visited this college on 24 August 2004 for the inaugural function of their Golden Jubilee Auditorium. The College was grateful to receive the Vahini and around 1200 Students and 28 teachers drew inspiration from this monumental exhibition.

KSV and the team of Chinmaya University travelled from Madurai to Rajapalayam.
On reaching Rajapalayam, the Vahini visited Rotary Vidyalaya Matriculation Hr. Sec. School where students and teachers visited the Exhibition. The Correspondent of the school Sri SS Ramachandra Raja wished the KSV team Good luck.
Through the day, KSV visited Ramco Institute of Technology, PA CHINNIAH RAJA mMemorial Hr. Sec. School, Ammaniamal Girls Hr. Sec. School, RAMASAMI Raja Polytechnic College, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Rajapalayam and finally halted at the Bus Stand, thereby inspiring 2182 students and 102 teachers from 6 schools and 40 general visitors.
2nd August 2017
KSV travelled from Rajapalayam and reached TENKASI in the night of on 1st August.
The next day started with a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
The students and the management of the Esaki Vidyashram School made the travel from the temple to their school very special. The KSV was accompanied by the School Band and 350 Students who walked for 1.5 kms doing a mask rally.
KSV was welcomed by the Principal and the whole school offered flowers at the altar in the Vahini as a token of their love for Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam.
KSV in Esaki School was nothing less than a Festival. 1200 Students and 60 teachers visited the Vahini and the jubilant Chinmaya University team members interacted with all the visitors and inspired them. Later in the evening, 50 parents visited the exhibition. Apart from this, class decoration competition was conducted in the school where all the classes participated and topic was Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

3rd August 2017
KSV reached Tirunelveli from Tenkasi on 3rd and the first stop was the Francis Xavier school. Around 400 students and 60 teachers from the school as well as 250 students and 16 teachers from the Francis Xavier engineering college visited the Vahini in the campus. In this institution, one Block is named after Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam had visited this college on September 22, 2006 for inauguration of a block named after St. Francis Xavier. The Principal shared the experience of interacting with Dr. Kalam and explained how he lived a simple life despite being the President of the country. After this, KSV visited the A.U.P.E.T Chinmaya Vidyalaya school where 600 Students and 60 teachers visited this unique exhibition.
In the afternoon, KSV visited the M. N Abdur Rahman school, Pushpalata Vidya Mandir and Sri Sarada Hr.Sec reaching out to 1090 students and 43 teachers from these schools as well as Fatima Oriental Girls Hr. Sec. school, Bharat Matriculation school, Pushpalata Hr. Sec. school, Sri Sarada Hr. Sec. School and Sri Sarada Matriculation School. Swami Bhaktanandaji from Ramakrishna Mission blessed the KSV team and wished them luck.
In the evening, KSV went to India Cements Cricket Ground Tirunelveli where players of TUTI Patriots and Lyca Kovai Kings visited the Vahini before the start of their match. Players including Dinesh Karthik, Sundar Washington, K Vignesh and M Mohammad along with their coaches and other support staff visited the Vahini and were very happy. Lyca Kovai Kings pacer M Mohammed said, “It was very nice visiting the bus and this is a good initiative. It was nice going together as a team. It is a great tribute to our former president who is from our very own state.”
The day ended with a visit to the VOC ground, one of the popular avenues in the city, where around 300 people saw the exhibition.

KSV reached Vallioor on 4th, inspiring 2727 students and 108 teachers from 7 schools & colleges in a single day!
The first stop at Vallioor was the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Hr Sec. school where 1300 students of the school and 35 teachers visited the Vahini. Later in the day, the Vahini was visited by students and teachers from the following institutions:

KSV ended the day by visiting ISRO Housing Colony where 80 people visited the Vahini. Shri RS Kannu, a scientist at ISRO (Mahendra Giri, Tirunelveli) also visited the KSV and was very happy to have the Vahini in their colony. The whole society thanked and congratulated Chinmaya University for taking such a great initiative.

Chinmaya University team took the KSV to Vivekananda Kendra in Kanyakumari on Day 10. 330 students from Nagercoil district who were attending the Bharat Scout and Guides camp visited the Vahini along-with their examiners Shri P. Johnson and Shri N. Soundara. 350 students and 25 teachers of Vivekananda Vidyalaya Matriculation Hr Sec School also visited KSV. This was followed by a visit to Gnanadeepam Matriculation Hr Sec School, where 200 students and 12 teachers came to see the Vahini. The KSV then moved on to Nagercoil from Kanyakumari and visited the Adarsh Vidya Kendra inspiring 450 students & 75 teachers.

The day started on a divine note with the Chinmaya University team performing Gayatri Havan. KSV traveled to Adarsh Vidya Kendra in Nagercoil where parents of students and other general visitors visited KSV. The Vahini also hosted 40 students and 4 teachers from N. M. Vidya Kendra, Chithral Marthandam who took time off from their holiday to visit the Vahini.

The day began with a visit to the Pioneer Kumaraswamy College in Nagercoil where around 1200 students and 23 teachers visited the Vahini. The foundation stone of this College was laid by the 4th President of our country, Shri V.V. Giri in the year 1970.
KSV crossed over to the state of Kerala and traveled to Trivandrum, it’s capital city. 360 students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya and 12 teachers visited the Vahini.

8th August, 2017
On 8th morning, the Chinmaya University team took the KSV to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Attukal where around 450 students and 25 teachers visited this mobile exhibition.
After this, KSV visited the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), one of the main research and development establishments within ISRO. Around 350 employees of VSSC including scientists, doctors, RPF, RPP and administrative department employees visited the Vahini. Shri Venkata Krishnan, Associate Director, VSCC and Shri Ajit C Shekar, Deputy Director, VSCC also visited the Vahini and shared their experiences.
The Vahini also went to the VSSC Central School where around 300 students and 18 teachers visited the Vahini. The Principal of the school, Ms. Pushpa shared memories of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s inspirational visit to this school in 2002 before he became the President of the country. She recollected Dr.Kalam’s humility and how he had sat with the students of the school.

KSV started the day with a visit to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Naruvamoodu on 14th morning, where 120 students and 15 teachers visited the Vahini. This was followed by visits to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kattakada and Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kunnumpuram reaching out to 410 students and 31 teachers visited the Vahini.
Later in the evening, 20 members of Chinmaya Mission visited the Vahini, including Shri Ayyappan Pillai, a 103-year old devotee!

The KSV team had an early start to day as they left Trivandrum and reached Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Alappuzha. 70 students and 8 teachers of the school visited the mobile exhibition. The next stop was Veliyanad, where the KSV visited Government Upper Primary School inspiring 30 students and 12 teachers.
After this, KSV was taken to Chinmaya University’s Chinmaya Eswar Gurukula campus in Veliyanad. It was welcomed by the students of the University, who also performed a skit on the topic of “Nation Building”. 28 students and 15 teachers visited the Vahini.

On Day 16, KSV was taken to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kannamaly where 300 students and 35 teachers visited the Vahini. The students had also created a beautiful collage of sketched cutouts as a tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
This was followed by a visit to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala where 500 students and 24 teachers were highly inspired after visiting the Vahini. Chinmaya University volunteers also conducted a session for the students.
The last stop for the day was Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Tripunithura where 650 students and 30 teachers visited the Vahini.

KSV continued its journey through Kerala, from Ernakulam to Thrissur. The team reached Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Thrissur where 80 students and 10 teachers visited the Vahini. 30 students and 4 teachers from Government High Sec. School also came to the same campus to see the KSV. In the evening, KSV travelled to Neeranjali, the Chinmaya Mission ashram in Thrissur, where 40 people visited the Vahini.

On Day 18, KSV left Thrissur and reached Palakkad. 150 people visited the vahini at the Vadakkanthara Temple Ground.
In the evening, 250 people came to visit this unique exhibition at the Sri Guruvayurappan Temple Chinmaya Mission College in Palakkad.
