Gopala Desikan studied Nyaya Sastra in traditional system. He had done his PhD on the topic “Tattvacintāmaṇigranthastasya kevalavyatireki prakaraṇasya vimarśaḥ. He has worked as project fellow in UGC sponsored Special Assistance Programme on “Commentaries and Sub-commentaries of Tattvacintāmaṇi of Gangeśopādhyāya”. He had done Post doctoral research on “A Critical Study on the Definitions of Perceptual Error (Khyāti) confounded in various School of Indian Philosophy” for one year. He has intrests in Nyaya,Mimamsa and Sabdabodha. He is attending the traditional vakyartha Sadas regularly conducted around South India. At CEG, he is teaching courses on Indic Philosophy – foundational principles, Dharma – perspectives from Ramayana and Logic and Argumentation.
