Integrated Masters (Acharya) in Music

The University offers Majors in Hindustani Vocal, Bansuri & Violin, and Tabla in the Gurukula mode. These courses would enable students to specialise and develop expertise in the chosen performing art. Extensive practical training is offered in these art-forms to help students gain broader insight, strong techniques and evolved performance skills.

A wide range of Minors are also offered, on allied and inter-disciplinary subjects to supplement their skill-sets. The programme also offers enough flexibility to choose diverse courses while securing their need to specialise in the arts. Thus it provides enough opportunities to help them discover their innate passion, seed it, nurture it and grow it over time. In this manner, the programme is primarily meant to fulfil long standing needs of the potential artist community and they also truly open up a new dimension for performing arts in the higher education space in the country.

This is an Integrated Masters programme, wherein the student plans for a 5-year stay, earning a dual degree. Students need to earn 160 credits at the end of five years. If a student opts for early exit at the end of 3 years, he gains a Bachelor’s Degree (Shastri) earning 100 credits. There are multiple categories of courses on offer and each student needs to take a set of courses to make up for the required credit for the award of the degree.

Unless we have a definite faith in the goal of our existence, and unless we believe, work for, and actually come to experience the goal positively as an existent factor, there is no hope of any plan becoming successful. —Swami Chinmayananda
