Prof. Nithin Ramakrishnan is an Assistant Professor of Law, at Chinmaya University of Sanskrit and Indic Traditions. He is also an honorary fellow of the Centre for Economy, Development and Law (CED&L), an inter-disciplinary academic think tank backed by Government of Kerala.
He completed his graduation in Law at Government Law College Thrissur, and further pursued his Masters in International Law at the Department of International law and Organisation, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai. His master’s thesis, ‘International Legal Order and Global Governance’, elaborated on the structural principles of international legal order and the aspirations of global governance, and how these in combined effect inspire a global legal order. He has received scholarships The Hague Academy of International Law and the University of Geneva in the consecutive years of 2015 and 2016 for pursuing courses on Public International law and Global Governance respectively.
He has also delivered a special lecture on ‘Conceptualization of Global Legal Order’ at Department of Law, University of Kerala in October 2016. Mr. Nithin has coordinated numerous focus group discussions on Law and Governance issues at various international, national and local levels for CED&L. He edits the ‘Elenchus Law Review’, an interdisciplinary law journal released bi-annually by the Centre. He is also one of the founding committee members of Indian Chapter Association of Attendees and Alumni of The Hague Academy of International Law (AAA India), which operates with a mission to take ‘Dissemination and Teaching of International Law’ beyond the borders of national capital.
His primary research area is Law and Governance and has a keen interest on international and foreign interference in the Indian legal and governance models. His current research interests include finding Indian/South Indian alternatives to theories of global law, relationship between international organizations, and issues involving business and human rights. Apart from academics, his interests include film making, drama, theatre, politics and cricket.
