Chinmaya Naada Bindu Gurukula (CNBG) is located at the foothills of the stately Sahyadri mountain ranges in the quiet village of Kolwan near Pune, India. Sheltered from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is a serene yet modern campus that provides the perfect blend of nature and essential amenities. Student life at CNBG aims to combines the rigorous nature of gurukula training with the fun aspects of campus life to create a memorable learning experience for the student.
CNBG has residential blocks with spacious and airy rooms with western-style attached bathrooms. Students will be provided twin-sharing accommodation in separate hostels for boys and girls. Attached to every room is a closed area to dry hand washed clothes as laundry service is not available. Many rooms also have an open balcony, with a refreshing view.
Annashri is the kitchen and dining facility at CNBG where three healthy vegetarian meals are offered every day. The kitchen aims to provide mild but sumptuous food for everybody. Faculty, students as well as the staff get together here during every meal, like one big happy family.
Classrooms and Seminar Halls
CNBG has four spacious, acoustically sound music studios and a professional dance studio equipped with wall-to-wall mirrors and wooden floors. The campus also has a 200-seater well equipped seminar hall and an 80-seater mini-theatre which are used for conducting lecture-demonstrations and other larger events.
CNBG campus also has a state-of-the-art, fully air-conditioned, 1008-seater auditorium called Sudharama. All major performances and festivals organized by CNBG are held in this auditorium.
Library and Archive
Students can refer to a steadily growing library of books and other audio-visual media on performing arts at CNBG. Students will also have access to an archive of rare collections of recordings in music and dance by legendary artists as well as recordings of in-house performances, lecture-demonstrations and workshops conducted by maestros at CNBG over the past few years.
Chinmaya Jeevan Darshan
At the heart of the CNBG campus is Chinmaya Jeevan Darshan, a multifaceted, experiential monument that takes you on a journey through the life of the visionary master Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. Pujya Gurudev’s vision, work and teachings are beautifully depicted here using various art media and state-of-the-art interactive technology.
Faculties, students and on campus staff aside, we have two very special residents at our campus – Chinmaya Maruti and Pranav Ganesh. The Maruti Mandir is located right at the entrance and the Pranav Ganesh Mandir sets the boundary of the campus. A meditation hall pervading with powerful silence at the Pranav Ganesh Mandir provides an ideal place for the students to contemplate. Daily prayers and festivals are conducted at both temples, and all students are encouraged to be a part of it.
Security and Medical Facilities
The CNBG campus has security guards at various places to ensure safety of the residents. The complex is gated and guarded, to ensure that no one can enter or leave discretely. Dhanvantari is the medical dispensary within the campus that is available for providing first-aid treatment. A resident doctor is also available on call.
CNBG campus is situated at a distance of around 50 km from Pune Airport and 45 km from Pune Railway station. Shared public vehicles and buses are available for the students to reach the city. Travelling to Mumbai and other neighboring cities is also very convenient since Pune is well connected via the national and state highways.
The nearest bank and ATM is situated about 1 km away from the campus gate in the Kolwan village. The Paud village situated at a distance of 11 km from the campus has good medical facilities, shops, market, post office, banks, courier services and other facilities.
The picturesque nature of the CNBG campus provides ample scope for the mind to relax and unwind amidst the beauty of Mother Nature. Students can destress with a walk or jog up the Pranav Ganesh Hill or enjoy a morning yoga session. There are also a lot of open spaces available for games like Frisbee, Volleyball, Football and Badminton. Occasional screening of inspirational movies will also be held in the campus. There are also various options for hikes, treks and adventure sports in the nearby area.
Spirituality – The Other Way
There are year round activities of Chinmaya Mission going on at the campus and students are welcome to participate in them. Many such camps will provide wonderful opportunities to explore, innovate and learn various dimensions of philosophy and culture. Youth camps, special workshops and leadership conferences are only tip of the iceberg. Come and you shall discover a whole new world here!
Chinmaya Social Responsibility – Our CSR Initiative
CSR is the community development initiative by CNBG that is dedicated to ‘Transforming lives with Arts’. Over 60 children from the neighbouring villages are being provided free training in classical music as a part of this programme. Students can volunteer to share their skills in arts, crafts with these children or even help them with their academics. This is a great way to touch lives and make a difference in the community.
Naada Bindu Festival – Join the Team
CNBG hosts an annual residential performing arts festival which is a mega event that includes performances by the superstars of Indian classical arts, insightful art-talks, spiritual discourses and much more. Students form a major part of the volunteer team that is in-charge of planning, organizing and ensuring the successful completion of this festival which is attended by art-lovers from across the country. In addition to exposing the students to the best of performing arts this festival also helps them understand the various aspects of event management.
